We had a great day with our friends and everyone was exhausted by the time we left. We played in the park, went for a walk, and had a picnic. It was all fun. Percy was asleep in his stroller before we'd walked the three blocks to the train station. Cutie and I decided we should take the longer trip home. This involved more time, but more changes (getting off and then on the train being great fun!). It also involved a cochet (chocolate) bikkie (cookie for the Americans) at the last stop to tide us over until we got home. Had anyone told me that the last stop also did NOT have elevators, I would have reconsidered the whole trip. Carrying Percy up and down flights of stairs in his double stroller while Cutie walked ahead was not a fun experience. Percy got a good, bumpy ride from the whole thing and probably wishes his mom had just stuck with Central like any reasonable human.
On Saturday, we went to Cousin P's wedding. Cutie announced "go wedding now" at the top of her voice several times during the service and Percy spilled the corn pops all over the floor, but otherwise it was all good. While mom and dad enjoyed the night out, the kids were royally entertained by their first, best, and favorite babysitter. She is now studying in the very city where the wedding occurred so we took advantage and the kids had a marvelous time.
We spent Sunday recovering and then Monday, while daddy studied, we went to visit more family across town. Although Cutie frequently mentions cousin A, we don't have the opportunity to play together very often, so she really enjoyed the time. And there were enough adults around to keep Percy from grabbing his cousin's beautiful red hair and pulling it all out.
Yesterday, Cutie had a "corrective" hair cut. It's shorter now, but a prior bad cut made it necessary. She is now busy watching "babies" which is a music DVD with lots of babies on it.
Percy is sleeping. Although I lay him down, he never seems happy with that position and usually crawls around his cot until he just collapses in sleep. Sometimes he takes his blanket, sometimes not.
Today, they were both playing together upstairs - it's the first time they've really seemed to do something together rather than just play independently in the same room. Unfortunately, this play starts with a rather long climb up the stairs. Percy loves climbing, but his "down" technique leaves a bit to be desired. He's learned to pull the gate away from the bottom of the stairs. We're working on security.
