So what is the cause of our long absence? Well, let’s see. There’s moving interstate, there’s moving intrastate – twice, there’s moving internationally. Hmm. No, that wouldn’t completely justify our absence. The truth is Thor and Princess are expecting a new sibling. And this sibling announced its presence by making mommy one truly sick chickie.
Now Thor thinks that having a new baby brother or sister is pretty cool, but what he really wants to know is ‘go airport now?’
Princess is really impressed. It’s a girl, she’s sure. Aren’t all babies? And it’s going to be her baby. She’s going to take HER baby swimming, give it milk in a bottle and hold it. She’ll even change the nappies – except Daddy can do the poos.
Mommy was less than impressed by the so called ‘morning’ sickness that baby number three brought to our family. An effective weight loss plan, but maybe a diet WOULD be easier.
Hubby is just recovering from doing duty as a single parent for several months. He says this baby better be good looking for all the havoc it’s causing – even pre-arrival.
The highlights of our last three months include:
Princess: Purchase of a pink taffeta skirt from the local ‘op’ shop (like a Goodwill store for our American followers). It is a beautiful skirt and must be worn at all times.
Thor: Learning how to access the cookies and cakes at all the morning teas we attended.
If I look a bit pathetic I’m sure someone will give me another one.
Hubby: Managing to give several talks to large groups despite laryngitis
Mommy: Staying out of the hospital
Thor and Princess: The small-town IGA with kid’s size shopping trolleys (baskets). Mommy notes fortunately there usually weren’t enough shoppers to endanger the population.
All: Spending five weeks at grandma and grandpa’s house
Princess and Thor: Flying in a jumbo jet – well, it was a highlight for at least the first 30 minutes. The next 18 hours weren’t so great.
Hubby: seeing his brother for the first time in two years
All: going to America to see Granny and Pawpaw
Princess and Thor: watching endless repeats of ‘the Wiggles’, ‘Bananas and Pajamas’, ‘Playschool’, and ‘Micky Mouse’.
Mommy: Realizing the kids won’t go to rack and ruin if the TV shares parenting duty while I’m ill.
Hubby: Managing to pack all our personal belongings into a 3 cubic meter space!
Unfortunately, we couldn't pack our favorite cousins
Mommy: Realizing we could actually get our personal belongings into a 3 cubic meter space
Princess: Finding five more ‘beautiful dresses’ when we packed to go to America
Thor: Realizing there was space to take his dump truck, his airplanes, AND the train set in our 3 cubic meters of space.
So as of now, we are on a working holiday in America. Princess and Thor are charming their American grandparents and looking forward to a brief visit by their Australian grandparents.
Granny and Pawpaw's fine dining establishment
Daddy’s looking forward to resting up (just a little) from the rigors of packing and Mommy’s just happy to finally be able to eat and rejoin the real world. Adios for now.

Hubby here, just recording a bloggable moment. We were in Montana, Princess and her little male friend are putting their shoes on as they prepare to outside to play. Little friend turns to Princess and says "Hey Princess, you want me to get you a gun?"
hmmm. should we be laughing or feeling scared?
Welcome back.
Lilli P here...yes, a big welcome back! Hope Montana is wonderful...now what would Princess do with a gun? She's into twirly-wirly skirts!
Princess did look at LF in wonder and confusion, her mind clearly still on her skirt and trampoline outside.....
